As we enter the holiday season, several religious and cultural groups celebrate traditions. Children's books can serve a variety of functions during this spiritual season.
* They can help families celebrate holiday traditions.
* They can teach children the true meaning of the holiday.
* They can help parents teach their children the values and virtues that they believe.
* They can be used to help children understand the holiday.
* They can help children learn about their heritage.
* They can help children learn about what others believe and how they celebrate their faith.
Parents and teachers can use books to support, enrich and enlighten children. Further, some of these children's books about religion can be used in social studies units to help children an understanding of different cultures.
